AMCO NEWS Vol. XXV No. 5 Adams-Millis Corporation Sept. - Oct., 1967 George Athanas Is Appointed A Director George L. Athanas was nam ed a director of Adams-Millis Cor poration at the October meeting of the board of directors. He has been president of the MAC Panel Division of Adams- Millis since July 16, 1963. Under the direction of Athanas, IVIAC has become one of the fastest growing producers of digital magnetic tape in the United States. Tape sales almost doubled last year and an addition to the company's building was erected to accommodate the increased production requirements. A second expansion of manufacturing quarters will soon be ready for the production of the newly developed disk packs. Athanas was a jet pilot during the Korean War; he holds a B. S. Degree in Engineering from Princeton Uni versity. He was with Honeywell Elec tronic Data Processing and IBM Cor porations before joining Adams-Millis Corporation. The Athanas family, George, Mrs. Athanas (the former Constance Hamil ton), and the two children (Heidi and George) live on Fernwood Drive in High Point.. They are active in Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. George is also a member of the High Point American Business Club, Other directors of Adams-Millis are: J. H. Millis, T. L. Smith, C. P. Wirsching, C. W. Hartsoe, H. O. Williams, N. M. Ayers, B. W. Worley and Irwin Belk. Richard Moser Named Assistant Superintendent Richard L. Moser has been promoted to as sistant superin tendent of the J. Ed Millis Finish ing Plant of Adams - Millis Corporation in Kernersville, according to an announcement by R. L. Boyles, director of manu facturing for the men's and boys' hosiery division. He will join E. C. Tatum, Jr., general superintendent, and Clyde Williams, assistant super intendent of boxing and shipping, in the management of the plant. Moser has been training director of Plant #3 since January of 1967; he has been safety director since August. Moser is a native of Winston- Salem, where he has spent his entire life with the exception of four years of service in the U. S. Navy. He is a graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School and Wake Forest College. He holds a Master of Education Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Adams-Millis as training director, Moser taught in the Winston-Salem schools for seven and one-half years. He will continue as training and safety director in addition to his newly assigned administrative duties. Moser is married to the former Betty Atkinson of Winston-Salem. They have two children: An eleven- year-old daughter, Donna Lynn, and an eight-year-old son, Richard Michael. The family is active in Trinity Moravian (Cont'd. on page 3 )
